What Is The Problem With
Our Energy Policy
In my opinion we have a thousand
screaming voices and no one listening.
No one can argue that sending billions of dollars overseas to
OPEC is good for this country.
Almost everyone can agree that polluting our planet will not
be a good thing.
Everyone agrees that as the third world enters the 21st century the
demand for the finite energy resources of this planet is going to
worsen the energy problems that we face right now.
So what do we do?
We Need A Manhattan
Project For Alternative Energy
We have some of the most brilliant
minds in the world right here in the good old U.S. A.
Why don't we treat this like a worldwide problem and get the
finest minds in the world together in a secluded spot and lock them
in until they come out with alternative energy resources like cold
fusion, efficient batteries, hydrogen fuel cells or whatever they
might think up and the world share the expense and the results.
Make it a permanent project until we solve the worlds energy
problems.
What Do We Do Until They
Develop That Energy Source
There is plenty we can do:
1.
Conserve - I don't think that any person with common sense wishes to
waste energy.
2.
Use Alternative Energy Sources - Solar and Wind have their place in
energy production but the sun is not always out and the wind is not
always blowing
3.
Develop ways to redirect CO2 emissions to other uses for coal fired
plants
4.
Build nuclear power plants
5.
Exploit our large natural gas reserves
6.
Drill in our offshore areas, before China, Mexico, Cuba, and South
America does.
7.
Reduce the world's population by 2/3rds.
Reducing the world's population reduces the demand on our
finite resources. By
reducing the populations by 2/3rds we extend 100 years of oil to 300
years.
In other words use all of our
available resources, talents and just plain common sense to develop
a long term energy policy and not one that gets us through the next
artificial crisis.
